Mica: A fictional town located in the beautiful Hawaii, United States. Sounds like paradise, but this is far from it. This is the real world: while the scenery is beautiful and the town is peaceful, when it comes down to it, it's not at all perfect. People can't just lay on the beach all day and party all night; they need jobs. Life here isn't all fun in the sun. With fun comes work, and with love, heartbreak. enlistment ; (4 sub-boards) » In this board is the rest of the things you will need to be able to play here. There is a sub-board with claims and sign-ups, and sub-boards for canons, 'bundles of joy', and unfinished profiles. The character sheet is pinned, so you should not have a problem locating and using it. If your character's profile is finished, post it in the main board.
claims & sign-ups ; (3 sub-boards) » There are so many things to claim or sign up for that they deserve their own boards. Make sure you post in the right one, and use the proper form for each. There is a board for things like face and IM claiming, a board for housing sign-ups, and more. Moderator: kenadie alexandria augustine
plotting ; (1 sub-board) » Oh, what fun! It's nice to have a general idea of what you would like to happen to your character in their future. Come here to ask for plots, share your ideas, or offer your character to be involved in someone else's plot. They can be short plots that last one or two posts, or plots that span the rest of the characters' lives.
interaction charts ; (1 sub-board) » This is a great way, as well as plotting, to get your character some friends, enemies, lovers, and family. These charts can be as plain or elaborate as you would like; with pictures or without, colorful or not. They detail what kind of relationships your character may get into, from deep-set hatred to punch-drunk love. As always, make your own. Do not copy someone else's chart.
dirty little secrets ; » Journals for guys, diaries for girls. Write down your characters' thoughts, feelings, recent events, etc. How do they feel about things/people around them? What Are they looking forward to? Are they crushing on someone? (NOTE: This is completely optional. Also, one thread per character, please. For multiple entries, reply to the original thread. And, nobody's character can know what another's character wrote in his or her diary/journal, unless given permission.)
albums ; » Place pictures here of your characters, their friends, their pets, etc. Maybe even a video or two- it could be within a digital camera, online, or maybe on a magazine, if they're a model. Pictures don't have to have people in them- it could be pets, or a landscape. Whatever, really. A lot of people find that taking pictures is a great stress-reliever. You can tell a story with pictures- after all, a picture is worth a thousand words, right?
extra posting ; (3 sub-boards) » The sub-boards within this board serve a variety of purposes. One is for quickie RPGs, where the word minimum is less; one is for RPing out or just writing about an event in your character's past; and the third is for people who have open posts they would like replied to.
playlists ; » Many people have iPods and other forms of MP3 players. They may have 1 Gig of space, 2 Gigs, 4 Gigs, 8 Gigs, or more, depending on the brand. So obviously, some hold more than others. People have varying tastes in music, or like just about everything. Post the characters' playlists here, or their entire music libraries.

cell phones ; (2 sub-boards) » If your friend, family member, etc., is not at home, a mobile device is the best way to reach them.Phones come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and colors, with different capabilities. Most of them have text messaging, and some take pictures. All of them can send and receive calls. Just punch in the number you want to reach, and away you go.
iLife ; (3 sub-boards) » People do many things online & with electronic devices. Since its creation, the Internet has become more and more popular, providing different, faster, and more-effective ways of communicating. There are instant messengers, where people send short messages to each other instantly, emails, which having all but taken the place of snail mail, and blogs, where people keep in contact with friends and post information about themselves.
writings ; » Even though, in this day and age, people tend to go the easy route and use email or phone calls or text messages to convey important message, some people have not lost the art of letter-writing. Post any writings in here, whether they be a short note, long letter, or a "while you were out" memo; could be anything your character wrote, ever. But remember- this is not high school, and this is not a "passing notes in class" board.
the olympic ; » A large gym facility. They have all kinds of different rooms, devoted to different activities. There are indoor basketball courts, tennis courts, racquetball/wall ball courts, weight rooms, even a swimming pool/lap pool! Plus, a small daycare room for kids. And so much more.

hua li`ili`i mall ; » Hua Li`ili`i Mall is a popular hangout spot among teenagers, as well as adults. It has all kinds of stores, which span over its three floors (reachable by stairs or elevator). On the first floor is the food court, as well as a stage, where people often get up an sing, or sit on Santa's lap at Christmas time, or the Easter Bunny, etc. There are also a bunch of kiosks, a large wishing fountain, and a small cinema. The second and third floors contain all sorts of stores: K-B Toys, Borders Express, Dippin' Dots, Build-A-Bear, Abercrombie and Fitch, and many more.
library ; » With tens of thousands of books, and virtually unlimited research resources, this massive library is a geek's paradise. The books are separated meticulously by the ever-reliable Dewey Decimal System. This building is so massive, that there are free maps of it at the front desk, for anyone who wants one. There are plenty of places to sit and read, do homework, research, etc. But be quiet..
caravelle apartments ; (5 sub-boards) » These are for the middle-class apartment-dwellers. The rooms are unremarkable as far as size- usually only one or two bedrooms, a small-to-medium sized kitchen and a small-to-medium sized living room. Not many of the apartments have balconies, but the ones that do have a nice view of the city.
communities ; (1 sub-board) » For those with more normal incomes, or that have not won the lottery or come across a large inheritance, there are the various communities. They are normal urban neighborhoods, with the typical homes; two or (sometimes) three floors, maybe a basement and attic as well, with small-to-medium-sized yards. They vary in color, but are all pretty close in size.
truth or dare ; » This is the most popular club in town--and for a good reason! It's a place to have fun, drink, and more. There are tables all over the place, some facing a small stage where local and some famous bands play. The bar is an 'island' in the middle of the room, where the bartender stays and serves drinks. They also serve small meals here- cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fries, large pretzels, pop/soda, etc.
the purple iguana ; » When people think badass, one of the first things they also think of is a tattoo. The people of Mica know the perfect place to come for those: the Purple Iguana. It's a small parlor where the employees give expert tattoos and piercings to a variety of interesting clients, varying from the veteran tattooed person, to the tattoo-less.

mercury ; » A small bar with three rooms. The first room is your average every-day bar, which looks eerily like the one from the show Cheers!. The second room is a billiards room, where people are permitted to smoke (the rest of the bar is smoke-free.) The third room is a more modern version of the first, with blue tiled floors, strobe lights, a small bar, and tables to sit at. A large dance floor takes up most of the room.
emergency services ; (5 sub-boards) » When an emergency happens, someone will be there to help. The Fire Station, Police Station, and Hospital are situated in the center of the city, ten minutes, tops, from any point in the city. Staff of all three buildings are ready to handle anything that comes their way.
the square ; (6 sub-boards) » This is a small group of stores and such, all in the same general vicinity. It's mainly places to eat: the ever-popular StarBucks, a seafood restaurant, and a small cafe`. In the center of all the stores is a beautiful water fountain.
businesses ; (4 sub-boards) » People here have a job to do- a fairly high-profile one, at that. There's the big-time office Roarke Enterprises, a talent agency for up-and-coming stars, the newspaper headquarters, and the island's premier radio station.

mckinley museum ; » The McKinley Museum is another place that attracts tourists. It is large, with 5 floors, and many things to do on each floor. In the basement, are the art restoration rooms, record-keeping, and the curator’s office. The first floor has a multi-purpose room used for parties, a gift shop, and an interactive dinosaur exhibit. The second floor has the planetarium, chemistry, and electronic exhibits. The third floor has the war room, Hawaiian history room, and presidential history rooms. The fourth floor is split between two kinds of art: paintings and sculptures. And the fifth and final floor is a large colonial-style exhibit, where people can walk through a model of a colonial-era town.
aquarium ; » The Aquarium has a fascinating array of fish and other marine animals. The entrance is designed to make it look like people are walking into the mouth of a shark. The hallways are lined by the large fish tanks- which make up the walls, as well as the ceilings- so people can watch fish swim overhead and to the side. The aquarium has regular fish, tropical fish, small sharks, small whales, and sting rays. There's also a small gift shop.

fred astaire dance hall ; » This small dance hall is home to a variety of things. For one, it has ballroom dancing classes. The spacious main room- there is only one floor, and no basement- provides plenty of room for learning and practicing dances both elaborate and simple. Sometimes, there are also open dances for both students and other people in town, where anyone can come in and dance. There are a few rooms to change in, bathrooms, and a small kitchen where refreshments are served. Students can be of any age and dancing ability.

evolution skate park ; » This is a large building for people who love to skateboard. There are all kinds of things from half-pipes and quarter-pipes, to stairs with rails..everything a skater could want is right here. There are even lessons for beginners. There's a pro shop where people can buy or rent equipment, a small concession stand, and a DJ booth, as well as a first-aid station.

earth trekks ; » A large rock climbing building. It used to be a warehouse, but then somebody bought it, and it's so much more fun now. There are walls for all different experience levels, and on the second floor, lessons and birthday parties are held.

aumoe ; » An upscale restaurant, Aumoe requires men to wear suits and ties, and women to wear formal dresses. They serve light entrees, full meals, and, of course desserts. They also have wine. It's dimly lit, in some places with candles, in others with small table-lamps.

amberwood estates ; » Large, posh houses that have an expensive upkeep. Mostly only people who have high-paying jobs, won the lottery, or have a large inheritance live here. They're all different colors and have different numbers and types of rooms. They typically have large yards, and some even have swimming pools in the back that open in the summer. A lot of these are located on or near the beach.

seawind suites ; » These are the more ritzy apartments that the more well-to-do people of Mica live. These apartments are fairly large, with between two and four bedrooms, medium to large kitchens, and often large living rooms. Many also have a balcony that extends from the living room, with a sliding glass door that allows them to step out onto the balcony for a beautiful view of the city.

maika`i beach ; (4 sub-boards) » Maika`i Beach is a popular spot amongst both tourists and residents of Mica. The sand is a pearly white and the water is crystalline blue, and a good temperature too. The waves are moderate at low tide, perfect for little kids and body-surfers, and at high tide, the waves are huge, and surf contests are held.
day spa ; » For those with enough time and money, there is a spot to get away from the hustles and bustles of the everyday life in Mica, and it's called a day spa. Here, the latest trends in beauty treatments are used. Get your hair and nails done, take a mud bath, lie in a tanning booth for a few hours... Just relax!

kamali`i wahine cruises ; » Not all the fun in Hawaii actually takes place on an island. Every couple months, a cruise ship sets out from a port on the island and takes a week-long trip around the island, as well as neighboring ones. The ship itself is beautiful, with fifty two-bed rooms; There are two decks that go around the ship, and, of course, the top is accessible. The first deck is where a lot of activities happen; there are limbo contests, cocktail luau’s, and more. The second deck is where people mainly walk if they don’t want to participate in parties or anything. And the very top is where the pool (going from 3 to ten feet deep, and a diving board at the 10-foot end) is, and where people lay on beach chairs and tan. On the inside of the ship, dance parties are held in the elegant ballroom, there’s a galley (where you eat), a first-aid cabin, and, of course, the rooms.

red-light district (2 sub-boards) » This is the more, well, "sleazy" part of town. Not too far from the Underground, it seems to have taken on what its counterpart got rid of: a good majority of the crime. Around here, things like drugs and prostitutes are mostly all that happens. The cops occasionally raid the area and attempt to arrest drug dealers and hookers, but there are always the ones that get away.

the mountain (2 sub-boards) » Hamau, the "silent" mountain is actually a medium-sized, dormant volcano. It has not erupted for over three decades, and doesn't show any signs of doing so soon. People often hike, bike, or drive up the side to its summit, where there is a beautiful view of the island. People also often camp on the sides of the mountain.
mica underground ; (3 sub-boards) » The "Mica Underground" isn't actually, for the most part, underground. This area, which used to be the crime center of the city, was "cleaned up" several years ago; but the name it was given when crime ran rampant still sticks. It's actually a very safe place now, though its reputation still sticks, and the very questionable locations don't help much with that.

chase motel ; » This small motel is “home” to both tourists who don’t want to stay at a resort, and locals who don’t want a house or regular apartment- or can't afford one. The rooms are either one or two beds, with bathrooms that have barely enough room to move, with a toilet, small shower/bathtub combo, and sink. It isn't the best place to live, especially if you don't live alone.

bank of LITM ; (2 sub-boards) » Yes, we have a money system, and yes, we must have rules and forms and such for it- otherwise, people might lose or gain more money than they need to. Check within for lists of ways to gain or spend money, as well as the rules for it.
bulletin board ; » Got a forum of your own you would like to share with the public? Do so in here. This is the only place on the forum to advertise. You do not have to have our mini-banner up, or use a form, but please make sure your forum has an advertising area that guests can post in. (If not, your ad will be deleted.) archives ; (3 sub-boards) » So nothing valuable accidentally gets deleted in the midst of deleting less important things, everything will simply be moved to archives if it is no longer needed. Things moved here include old character applications, posts that are finished or haven't been replied to in months, and old OOC discussions. If there is something in here that you need back, PM a staff member and they will retrieve it for you.
